Before you seek out sewing information, it's helpful to identify what type of sewing you are even interested in. This site is specifically centered around teaching alterations, because that is our sewing business' niche.
While some sewing information is universal, like operating your machine, you will need different instruction if you are diving into completely different skills such as quilting, garment construction, leather work, bag making, corset making, boat canvas work, upholstery, etc.
Clothing alterations are my favorite type of sewing, and maybe it's because I believe in redemption for anything. Make sewing goals, get a sewing machine, create a sewing space in your home, get a sewing mentor [👋🏼like me!!🙋🏼♀️] (and/or classes, or follow sew alongs), assemble tools, and make what you want to make.

One final thought. It's so hard to talk about sewing with people in your regular life who don't sew. We have a community group (social media style forum), right here on our website (no algorithms, or bots, or arbitrary censorship). Come post your sewing projects, reply to other posts, share updates, etc.
Think of this area as your Sewing Success Corner, as we share how to get started either in general sewing or in alterations.
